Teaching with Tablet PCs:
An Introduction to Effective Instruction

Day 1: Tablet PC Introduction Session (8:30am-2:30pm)
Teachers are a busy group. Lesson planning, attendance
tracking, paper grading, phone-calling, e-mailing, coaching, directing,
counseling... indeed we wear many hats. This workshop will focus on
helping you to leverage
the tools at your disposal, namely the Tablet PC, to be a more effective and
organized educator. During the 1st day you will:

see authentic
examples across disciplines of teachers and students creatively using the
Tablet PC

become familiar with the "nuts &
bolts" of your Tablet PC

learn how to use Windows
Journal as a virtual chalkboard
-
gain access to a private,
collaborative forum designed specifically for Tablet PC educators
Day 2: Tablet PC Intoduction Session (8:30am-2:30pm)
You've had some time to put into practice the concepts from the
1st day of the workshop. No doubt you have had your share of success and
frustration along the way. The 2nd day of this workshop is designed to answer
your questions, hone your technique and provide you with several proven methods
to enhance instruction and student learning. During the 2nd day you will:

collaborate
with peers from other schools and hear Tablet PC success stories

purge your
your curriculum of the dreaded practice of death by PowerPoint as you
learn to integrate the tablet into your lectures and presentations
-
cut
through the clutter as you explore the uses of Microsoft OneNote and
its ability to organize the maddening sea of information that teachers are
confronted with on a daily basis

say
good-bye to mountains of papers as you learn how Microsoft Word and
inking with the Tablet PC can be combined for assessment and evaluation
Day 3: Advanced Tablet PC Training Session (8:30am-2:30pm)
You've survived the first two training days and are ready for more. Or if you've already got the "basics" down and are looking to develop more advanced Tablet PC skills, then this session is just for you. During this advanced Tablet PC session you will:

discuss
and apply Marzano's research on effective classroom instruction

learn to
make your PowerPoint presentations more instructive, "engaging" and memorarable
-
learn
different activities to challenge student thought and potential

experience
new, more effective "note taking" techniques
