Student Showcase
Below you will find authentic examples from across several disciplines of student use of the tablet pc in the classroom. Special attention should be paid to how the specific examples of note-taking or content creation could or could not have been done on a traditional laptop or paper and pencil.

Biology -- DNA Notes
Using Windows Journal, this student is able to combine both type-written text and hand-written symbols to capture class content.

Biology -- Student Projector Use
Through the use of a wireless LCD projector, students can display their work for the entire class while remaining seated.  This technique is especially effective for students who would otherwise be uncomfortable standing before the entire class to present.

AP Biology -- Review Cards
In an effort to review for an AP exam, this student creates a series of type-written index cards.  After the information is compiled, he then graphically represents the same concepts for further reinforcement.

Foreign Language -- Note Taking via Images
It is no great secret that students learn best in a variety of ways.  Here this student chooses to take notes on a story being read in class via sketches rather than words.

Foreign Language -- Daily Journal
Certainly the tablet pc can be used to type essays and other word processed documents.  This student, however, chooses to use the tablet to write her daily journal assignment as this medium better facilitated the use of special characters and symbols.

Foreign Language -- PowerPoint
The tablet pc in the hands of a student is a powerful tool, especially when used in conjunction with PowerPoint.  As the teacher lectures, this student captures comments directly into the same PowerPoint that was being used for the presentation.

History -- Class Notes
Here is another example of the powerful role that color can play in the student note-taking process.

Algebra -- Class Notes & Virtual Calculator
Combining Windows Journal and a virtual calculator allows students to color-coordinate graphing functions with their notes.

Algebra -- Class Notes Using Graph Paper
Another powerful feature of the tablet is the ability to quickly change templates for note-taking.  Here the student takes advantage of graph paper for her algebra lesson.
